Series: Summer Road Trip Through Spiritual Practices
It's June, so it's summer! That means it's time for Road Trip sermon series!
Last year we took a summer road trip through the Bible. This year we're hitting the road again, this time through Christian spiritual practices. At CPC, we say we are a community growing in faith, hope, love, and witness to Christ. But how can we encourage that kind of growth? How can we get closer to God? Practice, practice, practice! So this summer, we’ll look at ways to strengthen our connection with Christ in everyday life. The series is based on the book Soul Feast by Marjorie Thompson, the same book the adult Sunday school class is exploring in depth this year.
We begin our journey looking at our modern spiritual hunger (which may not be all that different from spiritual hunger in any era). We'll also work on a definition for spirituality and spiritual practice, and we'll lay out the path for the rest of our trip.
We will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper (a nice way to deal with spiritual hunger!), and the choir will sing an anthem about spiritual friendship. If you want to participate virtually in communion with us, you'll need some bread and some wine or juice of the vine.
