This is a really challenging text in Luke 13 for this third week in Lent. Jesus responds to some terrible headline news of the day about atrocities and catastrophes, but in his usual way, he turns people’s expectations and reactions upside down. Then he launches into a parable about a fruitless fig tree. So we have to do some work this week to figure out what he’s trying to tell us or trying to get us to figure out! Meanwhile, Psalm 63 gives us a glimpse at the solid faith of David the poet king of ancient Israel. At least we can stand on that to get a running start at the gospel.
By the way, there’s a typo in the liturgy slides. Can you find it? Leave a comment! If you have any other questions or comments, be sure to leave us a note below or contact us at cpc@catoctin.org.
