Series: Summer Road Trip Through Spiritual Practices
We're almost at the end of our series on spiritual practices. This week we will explore simplicity, especially as described by Richard J. Foster in his classic book, Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth. In recent years, particularly during the pandemic, many so-called influencers drew attention to ways to simplify one's life, mostly by getting rid of accumulated stuff that no longer fills an emotional need. This is only a small part of a spiritual approach to and practice of simplicity. It is for the Christian disciple a matter of singular focus on the kingdom of God. It sounds simple, but it's really pretty rich. So we'll try to unpack that without letting it get too complicated.
