Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 15:51-58, Luke 6:39-49 |

We are nearing the end of the season of Epiphany, a time when we explore texts that reveal Jesus as the Messiah and God's Son, as well as how Jesus envisions the reign of God. We continue reading from Luke's telling of Jesus' sermon on the plain. This week we hear Jesus making some pretty clear and demanding statements of what it means to be his disciple, but if we read it right, we can hear humor. In these very serious days in which we live, humor can be both poignant and welcome, helping us get the point of God's reign.
