Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 9:16–23, Mark 1:29–39 | Rev. David A. Douthett
Paul feels compelled to preach the gospel; Jesus, having done good work in Capernaum, is ready to move on to new ground to continue his work. Both keep a sharp focus on the goal of their ministries. They are compelled, not by ego, but by the Holy Spirit, motivating them to extend God's kingdom. These passages invite us to consider our own motivation. Are we pushing our way through life on our own terms, or are we following the flow of the Spirit for God's glory?
