Shepherding Groups

Purpose

To build relationships within the congregation with a focus on pastoral care.

Means

By providing a pastoral care network which supports and assists people, usually by geographic areas.

Provide training for Shepherds in such areas as Christian relationships, active listening, prayer, and basic pastoral care.

Educate the congregation on the purpose and process of their Shepherding Groups.

Goals

Meaningful Christian relationships are formed within Shepherding Groups.

Members of the congregation feel comfortable sharing joys and concerns with their Shepherds and other members of their Shepherding Group.

Pastoral needs are met in a caring and timely fashion by Shepherds, shepherding group members, and/or appropriate church leaders.
