Here are two items of good news to bring you great joy: 1) It’s time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ – YAY!   2) We are set to hold our Christmas Eve service this year – YAY!!

Naturally, it will be on Friday, December 24, but it will be unusually early for us and not quite in the usual place. This year we will worship at 5:00 p.m., and the service will be outdoors on the lawn. With the latest COVID Omicron wave revving up, we hope to mitigate the impact of getting together by being outside. We will do our best to maintain social distancing, and masks are strongly recommended, even for the vaccinated, and even outside. This is partly because we will be singing a lot, and singing sprays. Limited seating will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own lawn chair if you like. We are planning for the service to last about half an hour.

We will read the Christmas story from the bible, and we will sing several traditional Christmas hymns and carols, mostly one verse of each. So there is a good chance you will know the words. If not, you can go to catoctin.org/carols to find the (public domain) lyrics.

If you can’t come in person, we are planning to record and post later on our YouTube channel, as well as our sermons page. There’s a chance we’ll be able to stream live on our Facebook page, so you can check there, too.

Come, all you faithful, and join us in praise and celebration at our Christmas Eve service! Yay!
