Bible Text: Romans 4:13-25, Mark 8:27-38 |

Series:

This second Sunday in Lent we will look at Peter's confession that Jesus is the Messiah and Jesus' first passion prediction, as Mark records it. In the gospel lesson we find that Jesus lays aside whatever pride he might have felt about being called the Messiah. So when Peter switches from insight to insecurity, Jesus doesn't fall into the trap of letting his perceived position shape his commitment to God's true intent, regardless of how hard that was going to be. Jesus is humble about both life and death. What can we learn from him about our own existence?
