Bible Text: James 1:17-27, Mark 7:1-23 |

** Technical note: The pulpit microphone died at 41:30 during the gospel reading. Audio picks up again in a couple minutes at 43:10 from one of the camera mics, and the sound quality suffers for the rest of the service as a result, but at least there is sound. We regret any inconvenience and will update our protocols to prevent similar situations in the future. **

We return to the Gospel according to Mark this week with a somewhat complicated story of an argument between Jesus and some scribes and Pharisees. They are discussing defilement, where it comes from, and what to do about it. Jesus accuses the others of having a rather limited vision on the topic. Now, theological debates are great and all, but does this have anything to do with us now? Yeah, it does. We'll also hear from the letter of James, a very practical guide to discipleship. Between the two, we'd better be ready for some good, healthy challenges from God.
