Bible Text: Jeremiah 31:31-34, John 12:20-36 |

Series:

It's the Fifth Sunday in Lent. We are nearing Holy Week and the reenactment of Jesus' last week of his earthly ministry. This week's gospel lesson from John shows us Jesus making the same realization, that the time for his sacrifice was at hand. As we have made our way through these weeks of preparation, we've been looking at how Jesus thought about his own life, death, and resurrection before the fact and what it means for us. This time Jesus uses the occasion of some Greeks wanting to meet him as an opportunity to bear witness to the glory of God about to be revealed in him. Really, this is pretty much what Jesus always did, but here it's explicit. Can we also think of life and death in terms of God's glory instead of the usual angst and fear?
