Bible Text: Isaiah 55:6-13, Matthew 20:1-16 |

Series:

As we continue to explore some of what it means when Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up the cross, and follow him, we find ourselves wading into some of Jesus' most interesting parables. The parables are stories that point us to the Kingdom of God, often with humor, irony, shocking twists, or some other kind of literary slap in the face. They are designed to get our attention and to get us thinking in different ways. This week we have the parable of the vineyard workers, a story about fairness and generosity. When a vineyard owner acts generously toward his workers, some of them are offended that it isn't fair. Well, thanks be to God for that! But what does the story reveal about our own feelings of what is fair and what is good?
