Today we will mark the Baptism of the Lord (but technically it was last week), and we will celebrate the sacrament of baptism. In our gospel text for today we find Jesus coming to John the Baptist for -- guess what -- baptism. John doesn't think that's a good idea, but Jesus convinces him. Then the heavens open, the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus, and a Voice declares him to be God's Son. Wow! That's a lot to take in! What must he have been thinking?
